Our Commitment
PMC recognises that operating responsibly means looking beyond our editorial output to the impact we have on the environment, our people, and the communities we serve. This statement sets out our approach to sustainability and the principles that guide our decisions as a business.
As a digital media company, our direct environmental footprint is smaller than that of many industries — but we still take our responsibility seriously, and we’re committed to reducing our impact wherever we can while using our platform for positive influence.
1. Environmental Responsibility
Digital footprint. We work to minimise the environmental impact of our digital infrastructure — from choosing energy-efficient hosting providers where possible, to optimising our sites and systems to reduce unnecessary data processing and server load.
Remote and flexible working. Where roles allow, we support remote and flexible working arrangements, reducing commuting-related emissions and office energy demand.
Office practices. In our physical workspaces, we aim to reduce waste, encourage recycling, and use energy-efficient equipment and lighting wherever practical.
Supplier awareness. We consider the environmental practices of the vendors and partners we work with, and favour suppliers who demonstrate a genuine commitment to sustainability.
2. Social Responsibility
Responsible content. Our [Editorial Policy] commits us to accuracy, fairness, and avoiding unnecessary harm in our reporting. We see this as part of our broader social responsibility — using our reach to inform readers honestly rather than sensationalise for traffic.
Our people. We’re committed to a fair, inclusive, and safe working environment for everyone at PMC, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance. We support the wellbeing of our staff and freelancers, and aim to provide fair pay and working conditions across our network of writers.
Community engagement. We look for opportunities to support the communities connected to our audiences and our teams, whether through charitable partnerships, awareness campaigns, or responsible coverage of causes that matter to them.
3. Governance and Accountability
Ethical standards. Our approach to sustainability sits alongside our commitment to ethical journalism, data privacy, and editorial accountability, as set out in our other policies.
Continuous improvement. Sustainability is an ongoing process rather than a fixed target. We regularly review our practices and look for realistic ways to reduce our impact and improve transparency.
Openness. We welcome feedback from readers, staff, and partners on how we can operate more sustainably, and we’ll update this statement as our practices evolve.
